Back to the roots: A review of our summer party

The motto of this year’s summer party was “Back to the roots.” Therefore, it was unsurprising that tables were pushed aside and replaced by beer table sets, fairy lights bathed the rooms in shimmering light, and a well-stocked fridge invited to toast.

The culinary journey began with homemade salads, dips, bread, and finger foods. Later in the evening, the salads were replaced by various pizzas. In addition to the excellent and plentiful food, we also provided entertainment for the esomies: karaoke enthusiasts were able to channel their inner Beyonce, playing Super Mario Kart made you feel as if you had arrived in 1992 again, and the candy bar was an absolute hit.

However, the highlight of the evening was the friendly fight between our two managing directors, Christoph and Stefan. In the spirit of “Back to the Roots,” they had to compete against each other in four games related to formative moments in life. From an office chair race (first job) to a pub quiz (freshman week in college), the managing directors battled it out for victory. In the end, Christoph drew the short straw and now must plan an after-work event, including food preparation. We are already very excited to see what he will come up with.

For the rest of the evening and into the wee hours of the morning, the esomies enjoyed time together and a drink or two. In the end, our summer party was not only an event but a reflection of our culture, and although the summer party was only a few days ago, planning for the Christmas party will start soon. Stay tuned.
